Out November 05: The Big Stiff Box Set (click for press release), my copywriting/PR/project management gig for Union Square Music.
A long overdue refresh an lick of paint has been given to my reviews blog, at jamsciece.blogspot.com.
Confirmation of the albums and singles I'll be promoting this summer: The Producers - Barking Up The Right Tree (27 August single on Stiff), The Wolfmen - Cecilie (27 August single on Damaged Goods), The Tranzmitors - debut album (27 August on Stiff), Any Trouble - Life In Reverse (10 September album on Stiff).
My most recent book, The Rough Guide to eBay, has just gone into its second edition and has been reviewed in The Sun newspaper as “Written in easy to follow format, but without patronising the reader, eBay addicts as well as complete novices will find this book a useful read.”
Two local papers in Newcastle (The Journal and The Evening Chronicle) have run pieces on my 'record shop awards' feature for Collector - complete with cheesy misquotes! - while current PR projects include album reissues from Wreckless Eric and Tracey Ullman.
I've spent the first half of this week in Studio 3 at Sarm West recording podcasts for ZTT Records and Stiff Records. Great fun. Results on iTunes here and here soon...
I've just come off air from Radio 4, having been interviewed about record collecting for the You And Yours programme, and joined in a panel debate with DJ Norman Jay. It's streaming online here.
Interviewed two great jazzy keyboardists recently: Mike Lindup and Wally Badarou. Next interview: one of Madness (they haven’t said which, yet)… Great review of AoN box set in Mojo this week... Footage from recent Wolfmen launch party coming to YouTube soon...
Lots of Art of Noise box set coverage cropping up here, there and everywhere. Also news of the next Wolfmen single leaking...
My new book - The Rough Guide to eBay - is out now!!
Everyone seems to be concentrating on Whitney and Bobby. But Universal’s insinuations that legal action against YouTube and MySpace could be major, major news...
Just booked The Wolfmen on to BBC Radio Merseyside, a pre-record for the Tony Snell morning show to air next week.
T-shirts are an integral part of rock and pop culture, and have taken a massive leap into the future with the development of Philips’ LumAlive technology. Its light-emitting microchips can be woven into fabric, the result looking like a TV set running right off your chest, albeit with four-hours battery life.
I've just discovered the world's only theremin lounge band, Project Pimento, whilst writing OK Computer for RC. And they do a cover of Peter Gunn, too.
